Well, we have about wrapped up the next version of Simple Bible. You’ll want to download you Translation Plug-Ins from this website. You will be able to get the beta version from Precentral.net in the next day or two. Keep yours eyes open there for it. If your not into the whole Homebrew stuff, we hope to submit this to Palm by early next week and might make it into the Thursday release on October 1st.
After a long day of coding, I can now verify for sure the following will be in the next Simple Bible:
- NET Bible Translation (as a plug in on your pre USB Drive) along with the ability to add additional translation plug-ins as they become available.
- One Bookmark
- In addition to a book mark, Simple Bible will remember your last place in both the Old and New Testaments down to the verse.
Look for this to be released to the precentral.net HomeBrew for testing by the end of the week and in the app catalog shortly after that.
This seems to be the most common request/comment we are seeing in the app catalog’s comments. We already have this in the works but your overwhelming requests have increased the urgency for this on our part. Expect to see some more translations available soon.
A couple bugs have been found that both have to do with the phone orientation. Fixes are on the way. Here is the current list of known issues:
- When in Landscape mode, if you change a book, the header doesn’t fill the screen.
- If you change from Portrait to Landscape or vice-versa, your place in the book is lost.
We will have these fixed pronto. I’m not sure however how long it will take for the app to get through the resubmission process at Palm.
Simple Bible was finally added to the webOS App Catalog today around 5:30PM CST. As of this writing about 2 1/2 hours later we already have over 1000 downloads! Thank you all so much for your support. This news has got us fired up and hopefully we will put the finishing touches on adding in translations soon. To God be the Glory Forever, Amen!
We have made the following changes per Palms Recommendations to gain acceptance into the app catalog:
0.9.8 – Several Changes to get into the Palm App Catalog
- Put Edit as the First Application Menu Item and Help as the last Application Menu Item.
- Changed the About/Help Scene to a Standard webOS Help Scene
- Moved Credits from the Applications Menu to a link from the Standard webOS Help Scene.
- Fixed the Application Menu in the scenes that were called by the Application Menu. Now all scenes either have a working Application Menu with the EDIT feature, or the App Menu is disabled all together.
- Added Checkmarks to the Book and Chapter selectors to indicated the most recent Book and Chapter Selected.
- Added a timer to the Notice Generator so that it’s not checking the website for a new notice every time you change books. It now checks only once a week for an update notice.
